Perimom Perineal Massage Tool
The Perineal Massage Tool That Actually Works With Your Pregnant Body
Let's be honest: perineal massage in the third trimester sounds simple until you actually try to do it. Your belly is in the way, your fingers can't reach, and asking your partner feels... awkward. Most women give up after a few tries.
Perimom changes that. It's the only perineal massage tool specifically shaped to work around your baby bump — so you can do the massage yourself, comfortably, consistently, without help.
Why Perimom Works When Fingers Don't
The "Belly-Bypass" Curve — Perimom acts as a natural extension of your arm. The unique curve reaches around your bump entirely, so you can access your perineum while sitting comfortably in bed. No twisting, no straining — just reach and go.
A Real Grip That Saves Your Wrists — Forget thin sticks that slip with oil. Perimom has a wide, ergonomic handle that fits your palm perfectly. You can hold it with confidence and control for the full 7-minute session without your hands cramping up.
Built-In Oil Channel — Drop your massage oil into the channel and it flows directly to the tip. Your hands stay dry, your grip stays firm, and the oil goes exactly where it needs to. No mess on your sheets, no slippery accidents.
Thumb-Like Tip — The tip is shaped like a human thumb, designed specifically for the vaginal opening. It's not meant for deep penetration — it's built for the gentle U-shape stretching motion that makes perineal massage effective. It turns a clinical task into something manageable and comfortable.
What Makes Perimom Different
- Designed for one thing: perineal massage. Not a multi-purpose gadget — a purpose-built tool.
- Works at 37+ weeks: When your bump is biggest and reaching is hardest, Perimom still gets there.
- No partner needed: Complete independence. Do it on your own time, in your own space.
- Easy to clean: Smooth, durable design. Rinse, dry, done.
- 5-7 minutes, 3-4 times a week: That's all it takes to build a routine you can actually stick with.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a perineal massage tool or can I use my fingers?
You can use your fingers, but most women find it increasingly difficult to reach their perineum as pregnancy progresses. By week 35-36, the bump makes it physically challenging. A perineal massage tool like Perimom extends your reach so you can do the massage comfortably without straining, twisting, or relying on a partner.
How do I do perineal massage when my belly is in the way?
That's exactly why Perimom was designed. The belly-bypass curve acts as an extension of your arm, reaching around your bump so you can access your perineum while sitting comfortably. No gymnastics, no contortions — just reach and go, even at 38 weeks.
Can I do perineal massage without my partner?
Yes — complete independence is what Perimom is built for. Many women feel uncomfortable asking their partner for help with perineal massage. Perimom's curved handle and ergonomic grip let you do it entirely on your own, on your own schedule, in your own space.
When should I start perineal massage?
Most healthcare professionals recommend starting perineal massage around week 34 of pregnancy. This gives you about 6 weeks of consistent practice before your due date. But even starting at week 37 is worthwhile — every session matters. Aim for 3-4 times per week, 5-7 minutes per session.
How often should I do perineal massage?
3-4 times per week for 5-7 minutes is the most commonly recommended routine. Consistency matters more than frequency — doing it regularly is better than doing long sessions occasionally. Many women add it to their evening routine, doing it while watching TV or before bed.
What oil should I use for perineal massage?
Natural, unscented oils work best. Sweet almond oil is widely recommended by midwives and pelvic floor professionals. You can also use vitamin E oil, olive oil, or coconut oil. Avoid synthetic fragrances or warming lubricants. Perimom's own massage oil is designed to flow through the tool's built-in oil channel for a mess-free experience.
How do I choose the right perineal massage tool?
There are 4 things to look for: (1) A curve that bypasses your belly — if you can't reach around your bump, you won't use it. (2) A wide, ergonomic grip — thin handles cause wrist strain during a 7-minute session. (3) An oil delivery system — massage requires lubrication, and a built-in oil channel keeps things clean. (4) A tip shaped for the vaginal opening — not for deep insertion, but for the gentle U-shape stretching motion.
Is perineal massage painful?
It shouldn't be painful, but it's normal to feel pressure, stretching, or a mild tingling sensation — especially in your first few sessions. This is similar to the stretching sensation during birth. Start gently, use enough oil, and gradually increase pressure over time. If you feel sharp pain, stop and consult your healthcare provider.
What is the perineum and why does it need massage?
The perineum is the area of skin and muscle between the vaginal opening and the anus. During vaginal birth, this area needs to stretch significantly to allow the baby through. Perineal massage in the weeks before birth helps this tissue become more flexible, making it easier to stretch when the time comes.
Is it too late to start perineal massage at 37 weeks?
No — it's not too late. While starting at week 34 gives you more time, every session of perineal massage counts. Even a few weeks of consistent practice can help your body become more familiar with the stretching sensation. Start where you are.
How does the Perimom oil channel work?
Perimom has a built-in groove that runs from the handle to the tip. You drop massage oil into the channel (or use the Perimom oil bottle with its fitted pump nozzle), and the oil flows directly to where it's needed. Your hands stay dry, your grip stays firm, and there's no mess on your sheets.
Can my partner help with perineal massage using Perimom?
Yes, your partner can use Perimom to help with perineal massage if you both feel comfortable. The ergonomic handle and clear design make it easy for a partner to assist. However, the tool was specifically designed so you can do it completely independently — no partner needed.
What is the U-shape massage technique?
The U-shape technique involves inserting the tip about 2-3cm into the vaginal opening and pressing gently downward and outward to the sides — tracing a U shape. This stretches the perineal tissue in the same direction it will stretch during birth. Perimom's thumb-like tip is specifically designed for this motion.
How do I clean my Perimom tool?
Rinse with warm water and mild soap before and after each use. Dry thoroughly and store in a clean, dry place. The smooth design makes cleaning quick and simple.
Easy to use. Clear instructions. Very needed to do effect massage when heavily pregnant. Still tore but I believe to a lesser extent than if I did not use perimom. Bought one for sister who is also due baby.
So glad this exists, it means I comfortably perform self-peri massage after a shower without straining my hand or trying to find time for my partner to help. Would definitely recommend it!
Perimom Perineal Massage Tool
The spoon part is comfortable to insert and to massage with. But the handle is a bit too short and not ergonomic. The reason I do perineal massage is because I am 37weeks plus. And my belly is huge. I have trouble reaching down there as it is and the Perimom definitely is helping but the grip is in the wrong place for me. To be able to insert and add a bit of pressure for the massage, i am not holding as intended and that makes the process a bit difficult.
Have just started using it but it’s definitely helping a lot! I can imagine the difference it’ll make in the next few weeks
